Sports and Remedial Massage

Sports and Remedial Therapy

I am a fully qualified and insured Clinical Sport and Remedial Massage therapist. I have a LEvel 5 BTEC Professional Diploma, trained with the Oxford School of Sports Massage and qualified in 2011.  The qualification has recently been changed to Soft Tissue Therapy because it has been recognised that training to Level 5 BTEC gives the therapist skills far beyond those required for general massage. The qualification includes training in advanced techniques that are targeted at treating issues within all soft tissues - muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

It is useful for those participating in sport at any level, from the dedicated athlete to the occasional runner.  But, it's not only for sports people . . . most aches and pains are caused by the physical stresses of a job and family life - extensive hours sitting at a computer, at a desk or in the car, standing, lifting and walking as well as carrying children, shopping, gardening and many other day-to-day activities.  The treatment aims to deal with the cause of the problem and to treat this as well as the symptoms.  Contrary to popular belief sports massage should not be painful.

I have experience in dealing with various problems:

Neck tension
Shoulder injuries
Frozen shoulder
Back pain
Knee pain
Hip pain
Sports injuries
Muscle strains and sprains

Relaxation, Hot Stones and Thai Foot Massage

Relaxing massage can help the body recover from injury, illness and the everyday stresses and strains of modern life. The treatments are comforting and restful and can be light or deeper depending on what you prefer.  These treatments do not include any therapeutic work.

I am a full member of the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which is a government accreditation scheme.

I  have been part of the team at Chippenham Natural Therapy Centre since 2007 and offer appointments on Tuesdays from 2-7pm.
